Non-CCFT Members: Join Up Now

Posted: January 31, 2013 in Uncategorized

To all faculty members who dropped out of the union (and maybe to those who never joined):

If you are interested in running for an Executive Board position of CCFT in this spring semester’s election, you must join the union TODAY.

Article V of the CCFT Constitution says:
“Section 5.  Eligibility For Executive Board Positions

a.         To be eligible for an officer position, a person must be a member in good standing of the organization for a period of six consecutive months prior to the date that the elected term begins [Term begins July 1].

b.         To be eligible for a chairperson position that serves on the Executive Board, a person must be a member in good standing for a period of three consecutive months prior to the date that the elected term begins.”

Some of you might recall that in the 2008 union election, the former union was chastised by the opposition for requiring a faculty member to be a union member for 30 days (or less) before voting or running for office.  You also might recall that the current CCFT president was a Dean 6 weeks before running for union office.  Apparently, things have changed.

If you don’t wish to run for an EB position but still wish to vote in the next election, you must be a member prior to the election, so don’t forget to join.  The election will be held this spring, date unknown.
