Cuesta Board of Trustees Race

Posted: November 5, 2012 in Uncategorized

NOTE: As you might recall, We’re What’s Left along with Concerned Cuesta Faculty for Change were the ones who recruited David Baldwin last Spring to run for the Board of Trustees in District 2.  Because we are being asked by many, we’d like to state that WWL is not endorsing either candidate for the District 2 slot.

Thank you for not endorsing David Baldwin. The chain of emails that was sent out on the CCFT listserv is disgusting. Labor Leaders and Democratic Leaders trying to come up with lies about Dr. Barbara George. I can’t imagine why anyone would vote for David after reading what he wrote.

The fact is that Barbara George WAS endorsed by a long list of arch conservative, right-wing, anti-unionists. I know her and don’t think she has anything to do with the tea baggers, BUT, neither could I vote for her because of her right wing associations. I don’t think anything David said was untrue from his perspective as he doesn’t know her personally, any more than the general voting public does. The fact is her list of endorsements was clear. The North County Tea Party DID endorse her. I don’t believe she sought the endorsement but she needed to be very public in disavowing any connection to them. It was a public embarrassment whereas David’s email was confidential and only released to the union listserv as a major error on the part of someone else. I think there is a big difference between the public and private aspects of these two events.
